Congratulations! You’re pregnant. You’re preparing and planning to welcome your baby into the world. You’re working hard to stay healthy and fresh during this time. You’re also looking forward to spreading the exciting news with your friends and family.
Planning a maternity photoshoot may seem like just one more item to add to your ever-growing to-do list. An intimate and loving session will serve as memorabilia of how stunning and magnificent your growing body is. These photos can help you recall and capture your pregnancy experience for years to come, not just in the months leading up to the delivery.
Aim for the Third Trimester
Plan your pregnancy photoshoot during the 7th or 8th month of your pregnancy. At this time, your stomach will have a wonderfully round shape, which is ideal for capturing photos. If you’re going by weeks, the shoot should take place when you’re around 30 weeks along. Your pregnancy may become painful if you conduct a shoot after the 8th month of your pregnancy. When your tummy feels too heavy, which usually happens after 35 weeks, you may want to avoid taking pictures.
You can start taking maternity images as early as 28 weeks to use them for baby shower invites. Usually, baby showers are held in the 6th or 7th month, but if your maternity images add a nice personal touch to your invites, you can arrange your baby shower a few weeks later.
Don’t Wait Too Long
Each expecting mother has a different journey, and some may be ready for their session ahead of schedule, while others may want to wait till the 9th month. However, it’s crucial to take a bit of caution. Get the maternity photoshoot done sooner rather than later.
You’ll have fewer indicators of tiredness earlier in your pregnancy, a lower risk of retaining water and developing stretch marks. You’ll be able to easily move around and collaborate with the photographer on different looks for your photos. The longer you’re pregnant, the more chances of being swollen and bloated. Keeping that in mind, the longer you delay the shoot, the more likely you are to miss the perfect window when your stomach looks amazing, and you still feel great.

Keep an Eye on Your Belly
While the 3rd trimester is typically an excellent time to take maternity photos, keep in mind that each woman and pregnancy is unique. Pay attention to how your body changes and the shape of your developing belly to figure out when the optimum moment is to pose for the camera. Take regular shots of your belly to see how it works if this is your first time being pregnant and you’re unsure what indications to look for.
